Question: Re: Strutts and Shock

Thank you very much for getting back to me. Is it bad to continue driving if my shocks (seals) are leaking - for an extended period of time. And what would happen if I did not get them fixed asap? Tight times financially.
Another question is. When I accelerate, my car seems to sputter, like there are intermittent breaks in speed. I have a Diesel 1.9 tdi.
I Appreciate your time.

Driving with bad shocks will affect the way your car handles, but not something you will notice unless you really like to speed around curves that have potholes. They can affect tire wear, but not as significantly as other suspension issues.

For hesitations on accelerations, the first thing to check on a diesel is the fuel filter(s). Have you had them replaced recently or at all?

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
