Question: Realistic price for a cylinder head replacement

I was recently told I needed a front cylinder head replacement because the threads were stripped in the spark plug hole. My question is, what is a realistic price for this? I am being quoted a price by the local Acura dealer that is beyond outrageous in my opinion, but I have no basis other than my gut the estimate is crazy. I would prefer to hear what is offered here before I reveal the estimate I was given so as not to skew any data.

With proper technique and equipment, this problem may be able to be fixed with the head on the car.

In some cases it can't be fixed, and this will require cylinder head replacement.

Call around for estimates. Maybe ask about using a used cylinder head.
