Question: Rear end sounds like it is binding up

the car has a 8.8 with 3.55s. I recently spotted a leak in the front of the diff. When moving backwards it tends to drip quite a bit. the gears look fine but i do not have the tools to check the mesh so im not sure if the gears are out of mesh. what else could cause this binding?

I'd need to look at it. When you say binding, is the rear end locking up? Or is an axle dragging? And inspection needs to be done by a shop that works on rear-ends to determine what is going on.

the driverside axle is bent. One the end cap one of the bolts broke mid shank which wallered out the bolt hole and allowed the axle to become bent. im just going to buy a new rearend and gears possibly going to build a 9" for the car.
