Question: recall on axle shaft

how do you tell if the axle shafts was made in buffalo or not. they had a recall in 1984 for the 1980 gmc caballero that the axles would brake off at the flange

No idea. There probably is a marking somewhere on it indicating where it was made. If there was a recall, it should have the identification information in the recall. notice.
