Question: Replace EGR Valve

Check engine light came on. Shop said diagnostic shows needs new EGR Valve which cost me $300.00. Two days later the light comes back on. I was told some particles may have gotten in and it's not functioning right. Could be defective part. Is there any other thing the shop may say it is rather than the EGR?

You could have a plugged vacuum port. The port from the EGR to the intake could be plugged. But the shop should have check that before changing the EGR.
