Question: rod knock in toyota p/u
'85 toyota p/u 22re.....blew a head gasket and went further in--found the rod bearings were at minimum so replaced and rings..when started and run at cruising speed (no load) loud chatter sounded like rods. No noise at load or decelerating took it apart---
I have oil clearance of .003 when the book says .0012 to .0028.
so I'm over....with head off I can push down on pistons and they drop down considerably---all the same.
I did not look at the size of the bearings I took off---I think now they might have been over sized...though the pistons are standard......
Would over sized bearings make up this difference and if so then what size?
thanks
