Question: Several Questions about my 2002 sonata LX V6 automatic

After putting gas in the car, it wont start unless you pump on the gas first. While driving, whenever it feels like it it will downshift which jerks so bad it hurts. And to even get up to 40 mph the RPMs reve to about 4 or 5. Then when it wants it will kick in and start working right.... Radio stops working over a bump and it needs an air conditioner... Do you have any idea what the first 2 problems are and where can I go to get these fixed in Fort Worth and about how much.. Thanks so much!

If you're looking for a mechanic, you can try the 'find a mechanic' link on this site, or check sites like yelp.com or cartalk.com for referrals.

It sounds like you've got hard-to-start-warm problem that could be related to your evap purge system, but you'll need to have that diagnosed to get a more specific answer. Your shifting problems sound more like a transmission issue.

But until you get a diagnosis, you won't be able to get a realistic estimate. Don't be afraid to take it to more than one shop--the first answer is not always the best.
