Question: shifting problems, only when trans light comes on, which is most of the time

1st run thru all gears is fine, but no matter what gear I'm in after that, stepping on accelerator results in violent shaking of car. Then back off the accelerator & it either slowly gets up 2 speed staying in whatevergear already in or sometimes will downshift & operate properly. But most of the time just have 2 wait out whatever gear it's already in. Most time this happens from 4th gear getting it 2 drop to 3rd gear when passing or getting on interstate etc.. The few times transmition light isn't on it shifts just fine. Fluid level appears fine 2 me & color also

Have the codes pulled. If the light is on, it should have set and stored codes (even after it goes off) that will indicate where the problem is coming from.

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
