Question: Should I change the the transmission fluid?

It's and dirty pinkish red color, and few days ago my car would have lots of trouble shifting to 2nd ( it's automatic by the way) it has sluggish time in reversing and it's also completely stopped accelerating to the point where I pulled over and turned car off and started it up again and continued driving. Should I change filter and fluid or should I flush it as well? It has 157773 miles on it.

Don't worry about a flush right now, just replace fluid and filter. How many miles since the last tranny service? When you shut it off and back on, does the problem change or go away?
