Question: Should I replace control arms or just bushings?

When I hit the brakes, there is a bump and the car shifts forward a bit. A mechanic at a shop noticed this when I went in to get an inspection sticker and said it had to do with the control arms, but I'm not sure if I should replace the entire control arms or just the bushings.

You need to have the suspension checked. Sometimes the bushing is replaceable, and sometimes you can only get the whole control arm. But you really need to isolate where the noise is exactly coming from before you buy anything. Otherwise you may replace a lot of parts and not fix the problem.
