Question: Silverado 1500, front strap

How do I replace the front strap that's riveted to the bracket that holds the gas tank? Strap is broken. Can I put bolts in or do I have to rivet again? and where?

You could try riveting it again in the holes the old rivets were through, but you may need to drill out part of the old rivet and use over sized new ones. Using a bolt and nut may work as well. The important part is that nothing is protruding out on the tank side that could possibly puncture the tank, and that is holds well.
