Question: smells like it doesnt have enough free-on

I have changed the water pump n belt and it smells like its g9nna over heat. I keep putting free on and the tempature doesn't go past half. What else should I do?

Okay.

Freon aka refrigerant (your car uses r134a) is for the air conditioning and nothing else.<br>

I think you mean coolant / antifreeze? Make sure the cooling system is free of air pockets and topped off. The temp gauge should be stable at operating temperature. You should see the fans cycle on and off after running for a while as well.

Do I need to take it to the shop or can I check the cooling system myself? As for the fans cycle- how can I check that on my own. N yes I was trying to say coolant and not freon. My bad.

One more question. When starting the car, there is a ticking noise coming from the engine. Could this be from the air compressor? It happens quite frequently verses than a month ago.
