Question: Solenoid canister vent?

I have to replace the solenoid canister vent (something involving the gas vapor recapture) in my 2008 Colorado. This is a nuisance repair that is expensive - quote $400. The truck will run just fine if I don't do the repair, but it won't pass emissions. Is $400 a reasonable cost for this repair? Is there a bypass?

There is no bypass. $400 is an ok price for the repair.

Well thanks for the info. It is a nuisance repair. If I had not already paid for the diagnostic, I would not bother (and a friend of ours said he bypassed the sensor & just took his chances with emissions testing). This truck is starting to nickel & dime me to death with repairs & I am not done paying for it. Blahhh...

It is a family vehicle that gets used to haul the trash cans to the end of the road, trips to the dump, etc. Whenever we needed a truck for something, no one with a truck was available. It really is a nice ride and good for light hauling.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
