Question: squeakey struts

i have rear struts that squeak between the spring and the fender well, what is that part inbetween? is it part of the rear strut mount assymbly or some kind of dampner. i sprayed a little wd40 on it and it stopped for a while but it is doing it again

Sounds like the upper strut mounts are making noise. If you change the struts, you have to ask for new mounts otherwise, they will reuse the old ones and the problem may still be there.
