Question: steering leak

I have a 1971 F-600 Dump Truck and today all of a sudden steering fluid leaked out, I looked close and it is coming out of the small round hole that looks like it is plugged with a black rubber cap or seal on the side of the gear box. This hole is located below on the side the steering gear box close to four bolts or nuts. Question, Do I need to replace the entire box or that hole is where a seal goes? It it is a seal, Can I replace it without taking the gear box out? Is it a difficult fix or not too bad. Any help sure would be Nice. Thank you in Advance. Daniel

I was able to locate the leak exactly. It was a round hole with the size of a pencil eraser with a black rubber plug that looks like one of the nipples from a lego block. It was leaking around the plug. I do not understand how that plug kept the power steering inside the gear box without blowing out, there must be some pressure and there is no threads or a good way to keep that plug tight. First I used silicone between the plug and the hole to keep sealed.. Did not work, it Flew Right out as soon as I started the truck. Then I found a Metal Plug with threads just the right size and I used plumbers teflon tape on the threads and I screwed it in tight and it is holding well, I also put some a to b welding compound around the plug for added seal. It is all working well. Thanks. Daniel

Correction,,, It was leaking through the membrane on the plug, and possibly around the plug. Daniel, Thank you.
