Question: still running, car stops like the gas petal doesn't work

Car is moving normally, wrench lite comes on and the car slows down and won't go faster, engine remains running. You bring the car to a stop, turn car off and back on and will move fine. Was happening once in a while then within a few day, happen 3 time on the freeway on way to dealership. Ford says it we cost US over $400 to fix it.
