Question: strange scraping noise before and after tune up

I just had a tune up down on the car-- they exchanged the transmission fluids, coolant exchange, oil chage, replaced sparks plugs, oil filter and drive belt. should the car run or feel differently/ better. I am at 81k miles. prior to this i noticed the car would make a kind of a scrapping sound when diriving any any kind of speed but it happened once in awhile. I thouhgt it would stop after the tune up. but it hasnt and I am noticing it more. What is that noise about?

To start with, no, you won't notice a difference when fluids are replaced. You could notice a difference with filters or spark plugs, but only if the old ones were very dirty or worn. In general, a tune up is preventative maintenance, and unless something is broken, you won't notice if it is replaced--actually, that would be an indication you waited too long for the maintenance.

If you're hearing a noise, be prepared to give as much information as possible about it: does it matter which gear you're in? Does it ever happen in reverse? Does the road surface matter? Temperature? Climate control on? Where do you hear the noise coming from? Is it louder with the window open?

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
