Hmm...those are unusual problems. Looks like the common part for both problems is the Light Control Module. You'll probably have to take it into the dealer (or a BMW specialist) to diagnose this.

However, the first thing I would do is check your fuses. If they're OK, then for codes in all modules and see if there is a trail to follow. Many times with this type of problem (multiple failures) the module that controls all of them is defective or has poor wiring to it.

Here is what I did to get rid of the problem - why it worked I do not know - maybe there are capacitors that hold voltage and it took a while to disipitate the current.

I disconnected the battery terminals - waited 24 hours - try hooking up - problem still existed
I disconnected the battery terminals and left it for 3 days -
When I connected the battery all was well.
I guess I saved myself a lot of money for the tow, diagnostic and probably replacement of some part that would have not been required. Have put on about 40,000 km since then and no problems.

I guess I got lucky this time - probably not a logical solution - but made sense to me at that time .... why - i don't know - maybe desperation...

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
