Question: Taillight dont work but brake light does

I have replaced bulbs and sockets and still nothing, At first my taillight worked and i replaced the bulb and the tailight didnt work but the brake light did , What am I doing wrong?

The tail light and the brake light are on separate circuits with different fuses, wiring, switches but they often share a bulb. There's some great info on the following thread that will provide a good overview and some tips on what to check:
