Question: The fuel indicator light goes on and the gas needle goes up and down. What's wrong?

On occasion, with a full tank of gas, the gas needle will go up and down, and the fuel light goes on. I have to step on the gas slightly and the light goes off and the needle goes back to full. I believe the gas tank float may be moving around as I hear a slight noise in the rear of the car. What is the diagnosis and how much should it cost to repair? Thanks for your help.

You probably need to replace the fuel level sending unit.

Labor is listed at 1.3 hours, the listed parts cost is $58.85
