Question: The ingition switch locks on occasion, why?

The ingition switch locks on occasion and will not turn. THe steering wheel in not in a bind and the jeep is on flat ground. I use the emergency brake to ensure that pressure is not on the transmission. As I keep trying, it eventually unlocks. The key is not worn out and the switch appears to be in good shape. The key slides in and the feel is very positive.

Probably a tumbler in the cylinder is binding. You probably need a new ignition switch cylinder.
