Question: throw out bearing

Can I fix this myself? Or should I take it to a garage? How much does the part cost? And how long can I go without replacing it?

Well you need to pull the transmission to replace the bearing. If you've never done that before, take it in.

You should replace it soon, a complete failure of the bearing will render the car undrivable and might damage other components.

The part itself is cheap, under $100
