Question: Timing Belt Change

Manual says 8 years or 120,000 miles. I am obviously well below 120,000 miles, but I'm over 8 years. Should this be something I rush to have replaced? It's a costly job and I don't really have the money for it, but I was planning on taking it on a trip soon. Don't know what to do. Getting differing opinions from different mechanics. Everything from "change it right away" to "don't worry about it. They hardly ever break below 100,000 miles."
