Question: Timing Belt Replacement

I am interested in doing a 90k maintence on my vehicle and was wondering if it is recommended to change the water pump when changing the timing belt. I have heard both opinions regarding this. Thank You.

The water pump is driven by the timing belt, so if the water pump were to fail, it could cause engine damage. Since you will have stripped the engine down to the water pump while doing the timing belt replacement, it makes sense to replace the water pump at this time. There is very little additional labor to replace it, and it is cheap insurance. Definitely recommended.
