Question: timing problem

I recently replaced my water pump on my 95 probe gt 2.5 the timing belt got taken off and when I put it back on it ran like crap. So I took it off and tried timing it all marks are ligned up but it won't fire. What am I doing wrong?

This is hard to tell without seeing the vehicle. Does the distributor have to be removed to change the belt? If it does, it may be off a tooth. If not, you may need a shop to look at. If all the marks line up, it should run.

You can turn the crank over 2 times and all the marks should line up again. This checks to make sure the part of the belt that has tension is set correctly.
