Question: Timming Belt

To Ron W:
Thank you for your response to my timing belt question, My 1999 Sebring convertible JXi has a 2.5 L engine. Does this engine have a timing belt or chain? Dealer said it has a belt but the manual does not call for a belt change at any milage. Please advise.

It's got a belt, and my manual recommends the replacement at 105k. You can double-check using the 'your service schedule' link on this site. You'll have to check the procedures for each mileage interval--sometimes the owner's manual has outdated info, but all timing belts need to be replaced due to wear.
