Question: Tranny shift silinoid problem is electrical

I have a 98 vw golf 2.0 engine A, automatic.have an electrical problem with shift silinoids A and D. My 3rd cilinder is out because plug wires. Can that be the problem with the shift silinoids,???
The only wires i see are on the top of the tranny. Should i replace them???? Im totaly lost with this problem.
What should i do??

In general, it's good practice to fix an engine misfire before moving on to other issues you think that may be causing (like tranny issues). So find the cause of the misfire and repair it--if it's plug wires then replace them. If that doesn't fix the problem, then you can focus on the shift solenoids.

On electrical problems, especially feedback sensor issues, you need to have a good understanding of electrical systems, and a good overview of the electronic feedback system for the transmission. So if you don't feel comfortable with that, having a shop look at it is a good idea. Or else you'll be too tempted to start replacing parts without knowing what they do or how to test them--and that can get more expensive than paying a repair shop.
