Question: Tranny slips in over drive.
After the tranny shifts into overdrive at approximately 53 mph the tranny will slip when going uphills. I will look down at 55mph and see the tach sitting at 1800rpm instead of the normal 1500rpm @55mph. When going up small grades, the tranny slipps - letting the rpm get up to as high as 2000rpm - without down shifting.
If it were the torque convertor, it would be consistant, doing it all the time. It dosen't do it all the time. If I hand shift the tranny through the gears, going to about 3000rpm before shifting - the tranny acts fine. Could this be an indication that I need to rebuild the valve body?
This is killing my gas mileage!
