Question: transmission fluid seems to have evaporated.

None on dipstick and vehicle won't go in reverse.Will move forward. What shall I do first? Give it to my mechanic or first try to refill transmission and look for leaks and start car and put in gear ?

Add fluid to it and go from there. If it won't go in reverse, there is probably internal damage to the transmission, but low fluid can cause this on automatics as well.
