Question: turbo bl;ew up. pieces in exhaust. Is my motor ok?

2005 subaru outback blew the turbo. parts are rattling in the exhaust. technician says the engine sounds fine . I want to know how things large enough to make this rattling could possibly pass by the valves and through the exhaust ports. It sure sounds like something as large as quarter or larger.

The sound could just be the turbo. When a turbo lets go for the most part they don't send metal into the intake. And if it does the motor is no good.
