Question: Valves are bent. told looked like timing belt jumped two teeth...sent engine out to shop..

Car stopped dead and wouldn't restart. no prior noises, etc. Bought it used but still under warranty and extended one too....Said that camshaft sensor went out. When replacing sensor noticed compresssion issues. Saw timing belt had 'jumped' two teeth. Sent out to machine shop and so far confirming two bent valves. But they don't know why bent. Read that betl will cause this in a interference engine. Any thing I should be asking them???

The valves will bend if they contact the pistons. This can only happen if the timing is off. Usually two teeth wouldn't be enough, but it could still happen.

Timing belts usually fail will high miles or age. The belt is due every 60k

ty...turns out it was covered by manufacturer warranty as it was engine part failure. but oh the agony of getting all parties to get it all done and cover most of my car rental..fortunately I had added warranty that covered days,,,car warranty didn't....but it took a month to get my car back...worst experience of my life...had to call and call to find out what was going on....worst service EVER ! But have new engine in a car that already had 50,000 on not a bad deal in the end..... ty for your response!

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work.
