Question: Water is accumulating in rear passenger floor pan.

My low mileage, no winters 94 Crown Vic has a problem with rear carpet too often wet or occasionally up to 2 inches deep. Sides of floor pan are dry and there is no moisture under front seat or
on front passenger kick plate. Problem came with car five years ago and I can find no access point. The seal under r rt floor pan looks good. I am out of ideas. Today a garage wanted to tear out all carpet to start--not a great option. Help??

You will have to waer test the car. Take a hose and run it in onw spot. Check for leaks. Do this thill it leaks in the carpet. That will pinpoint where the leak is.

Thanks for the help. I have finally solved the leak problems in this otherwise very good car. A large amount of leaf mold had accumulated out of sight in the drain trough below front windshield. Rain ran over the air intake into the passenger kick-plate area and trickled imperceptibly under the front floormat into the rear right floor pan.

Problem two was an AC drain gasket failure behind the fender liner of the right front wheel-well.

Thanks to forum advice I found both problems, which apparently were not unusual for panther platforms 1992-98. Neither leak source was obvious without some dis-assembly. There are many such cars still on the road. I would urge frustrated owners to be persevere in finding the easily fixed leak sources.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
