Question: What are possible reasons for this problem?

Car wouldn't start. AAA jumped the battery. I drove car for 40 minutes, had battery check at AutoZone; they said it was fully charged and holding the charge. (Battery is 2 years old.) I ran an errand on the way home, and car would not start after letting it sit for 1/2 hour.

Do you mean it wont crank or cranks but wont start?

If it wont crank it's probably a charging system issue.

If it cranks but wont start, check the engine computer for stored fault codes.
