While driving my Service Engine light flashes on and off. Why?

That means you have a missfire that it hurting the cat. You need to get it fixed. If you let it go you will need a new cat as well as a tune up.

The light comes on and stay on for awhile, then goes off for a while then comes back on.

I am talking about a engine missfire. Like spark plus, spark plus wires, injector or bad compression in a cylinder. Have that stuff checed out. One of them is going to be your problem.
