Question: What does it mean when your transmission fluid is dark or dirty?

I just got my oil changed and it was brought to my attention that the transmission fluid was a dark dirty color. What does this mean?

In older vehicle, it means he transmission should be serviced. Color and smell are not reliable indicators for all cars anymore. I would check with the dealer to see if you should have he transmission serviced, or if this is normal for your vehicle.
