Question: What does the maintenance required light along with the brake light on mean?

My maintenance required light was flashing when cranking the car the past couple weeks. It was my understanding that usually this means the scheduled maintanence is due. The light comes on and stays on now. While driving this afternoon my Emergency brake light and the brake lamp lights came on they had not done that before. I have only owned this car for two months but all scheduled maintenance has been done regularly on this car.

Have the car checked for any maintenance needs and bring them up to date. From that point forward, follow the service schedule. The lamp can be reset after the service has been completed by your mechanic.

The brake lamp can come on for a few different reasons. First off, check the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir. You may also have low brake pads, or a problem with the ABS.
