Question: what happens when my inner stub shaft gets stuck in transmission ?

Changing driveaxles on my 98 Malibu and when I pulled it out from pry bar the inner stub shaft stayed in but I'm suppose to transfer it to other axle should I just throw axle on?

Does the axle shaft snap onto this piece. I'm not 100% sure what piece you are talking about. If it is a short fixed axle that is in the transmission and the CV shaft snap onto it, then you can just install the new axle onto it. These shafts usually are bolted tot he block on the outer end for support.

If it is something else that is inside the transmission, you may need to get it extracted.before installing the new CV shaft.
