Question: What is the cost to replace the valves?

A mechanic told me he would charge me $900 to replace one side of the engine valves. He would send the piece to a machine shop to repair the piece then re-install it.
Does this seems rather high in price?

Sounds like he would be doing a valve job on the cylinder head. He would pull the head and a machine shop would do the actual valve work. the price is not to far out of line.
