Question: What is wrong if my reverse is gone?

I went to back up one day and once I hit reverse it was as if it was in neutral. No matter how much throttle I gave it the truck would not move.

Check the fluid level and condition. If you haven't had a tranny service in the past 30k, have that done. You will want to have the shift linkage and all lines to the transmission inspected. The problem could be low fluid, a plugged filter, blocked valve body passage, or worn transmission. It's best to eliminate all the little stuff before suspecting the transmission itself.
