Transmission services vary. The traditional service is remove the transmission pan, replace the filter, reinstall the pan and refill the fluid. This gets between 4 and 7 quarts of fluid changed depending on the vehicle. In the last 5 or so years, transmission "flushers" have become more popular. This machine flushes out all the fluid, then the service is the same as before. this removes almost all the fluid and typically takes about 20 quarts of fluid to do. the flush is more expensive than a normal service.

I don't offer or recommend flushes in most instances unless the manufacturer requires it. regular tradition servicing is all that is typically needed to get service life out of the transmission.
