Question: what should i check vehicle just rev and wont move foreward

what would be the problem? i backed out of the drive way everything was operating properly but when i shifed to drive all it did was rev up and then i heard a pop then it jolted foreward then it started to click in the front end

Will it move backwards? How about the other forward gears? Does it make the clicking noise in all of them/neutral? Any warning lights on dash? Check transmission fluid. Inspect the shift linkage to see if the transmission is being shifted into drive.
