Question: what would cause oil to be around the rear wheel well on the drivers side?

Oil is found around the rear wheel well on the drivers side and there is a grinding noise when trying to turn the car. Where would this oil be coming from and what might be causing the grinding noise?

Sounds like the axle seal may have been leaking. And the differential may have some sort of issue. You should have a shop look at it before it gets much worse.
