Question: What wrong with my car?

My car won't start 90% of the time. We thought it was because of the cold because it started happening in the winter but some days it will randomly start at 23 degrees and then other days it won't start at 45-50 degrees. When we go to start it won't turn over half the time and when it does it dosnt start even less then that. It makes a weird hard clunking noise. When we do get it to start it will usually die a couple time and then run at a very low idle. We have been taking it to this mechanic shop and they keep having us just fix something new every time and the problem doesn't change. We have changed the radiator cap and the distributor cap. We got new spark plugs and a new fuel pressure gauge. They finally had us buy a computer for the car and we thought finally this has to work and still nothing? Any suggestions? Does this sound like something you have dealt with before?

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
