Question: What's making this rumbling sound?

I have a 2002 Lancer OZ Rally
There's a loud rumbling sound when I'm in gear and accelerating. When I'm in neutral and I rev the engine, the sound doesn't occur. Also, the sound doesn't seem to happen when I'm in reverse. I would really appreciate some help in figuring out what's going on.

Where is the noise coming from (engine, under seat, rear of car, left or right...)? Is the sound present at all when you're holding a constant speed? Have you tried shifting from Drive to Neutral as you are accelerating?
