Question: whats wrong?

I just got a new alternater and charged my battery... My car started and everything but as I drove I noticed the volts dropping when I stop accelerating.. but when I accelerate they go back up ... When I parked and turned the car off went in my house came back out now my car won't start but the lights work... What's the problem
