Question: Whats wrong with my car

Hi, my 2001 hyuandi elantraStarts fine, although it idles realy high in park or neutral.. Acts like it is missing, wouldnt pull a hill very well and it wants to windout around 5 grand before changing gears.. we have let it sit for about 2 weeks starting it here and there to let it run for a few minutes.. Now when we start it, it blows white smoke from exhaust its smelled like gasoline then like burning oil, a small pinging noise in motor, and when you put it in gear the motor starts to shake which feels like from the bottom and it doesnt want to move or it kinda hops slowly and then pegs out.... HELP

Sounds like you may have a head gasket or intake manifold gasket leak. Typically the heavy white smoke with a sweet smell indicates coolant in the combustion chamber.

Some white smoke on cold start up is normal from condensation in the exhaust, but if it last more than a minute or two or there is a lot of it, you should have the car checked.

I wouldn't recommend driving it in this condition as you could cause excessive engine or catalytic converter damage.

You should have a shop check it to verify what is going on.

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
