Question: what's wrong with shifter.

I have automatic trans. When shifting from park to reverse drive any gear makes noise. Then as well the shifter feels loose can move from side to side. But can see that it is secured down under cover.

Did you inspect it from beneath the car? You need to see if the linkage is secured at both ends. You can try moving through the gears with the linkage disconnected to see if the problem is with the transmission or the shifter.
