Question: Why did my SUV all of a sudden lose all power?

I first noticed that my ABS, traction control, and engine light came on. Then my radio started to flicker on and off. When I pulled over to the side of the road and shut off the vehicle I could not get it to restart. While trying to restart I heard a click-click sound. After a couple of minutes I got it started again and continued to home. Not even a mile down the road my dash all lit up every light and then slowly faded to black. No lights, no radio, the spedometer needle was not moving and I was losing power. When I coasted into the nearest parking lot and try to stop I had a hard time using the brakes (it felt like they were not working) and could not put it in Park. I used the emergency brake and tried to put it in Park with my foot on my brake but it would not work. When trying to shut down the vehicle with the key it was in a locked state and I could not remove the keys. It was as if I had lost all power to the vehicle. Can you tell me what it could be that would cause this?

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
