Question: why do i have no headlights

2007 buick allure...i turned car off turned it back on...and no headlights...i have high beams, side marker lights work...when i start my car the day time running lights do not work...have checked fuses and bulbs ... they are good...previously i could smell something burning...have had the headlights not work before but would shut car off and back on it worked...but now have not had headlights for 2 weeks....

Sounds like a problem with the headlamp switch maybe or a lighting control unit issue.
