Question: Why do I have to put it in 1st gear to go? Do I need a new transmission?

When I start it and put it in drive, it won't go anywhere. I have to slide it to 1st gear to get it to go, then it runs fine after this.

I would check your gear selector position switch. It mite need to be adjusted or changed.
